General description and specifications
The Pocket penetrometer is a world wide known instrument used by geotechnicians, geologists, agronomists etc., to obtain quickly and easily an approximate measure of the shear strength of cohesive and semi-cohesive soils.

The special feature of this model is the design of the penetration rod which allows a relatively deep penetration into the soil (up to 6 cim) thus reducing errors and uncertainties typical of shallow measures which are often affected by remoulding, drying etc. of the surface. This penetrometer can be used both ofor field and laboratory measures on soils having UCS values ( Unconfined Dompressive Strength )  between zero and 1 MPa (about 10 t/sq.cm-1 t/sq. foot).

Two different sizes of penetration tips are available: the small one for hard soils and the large one for soft and medium soil.

-All stainless steel construction

-Tip diameters ( interchangeable ): 6.35 mm for hard soils; 8.89 mm for soft and medium soil.

-Measuring range: 0 to 1 MP a (0 to 10 kgf/sq.cm approx.)

-Dimensions (assembled); 210 mm length by 20mm dia.

The penetrometer is supplied in a plastic case.
